CREATIVE STRATEGY

For my creative strategy, I wanted it to visually link to my blog and the video. I went with a dominant yellow colour scheme and visually similar font to the one on my blog for the house style of the printed piece. The strategy acknowledged our concept throughout, it incorporated styling, MUAH and photography, as well as a screenshot from our final film, and all the promotional material. The fonts and layout were kept very similar thought-out to keep the piece looking neat. To improve, I could have placed about with layout a little bit more, possibly done some more research into this. I could've spoke more about the location and styling, and why we chose to pick this things to incorporate in both the film and photo shoot. NORTHERN SOUL CREATIVE STRATEGY

IMPROVED MOOD BOARD 1

I updated my first mood board as in my opinion, I think it could've been improved on. Therefore this is my second outcome, which I believe is visually more appealing.

EXHIBITION @ KOMMUNE

Image
Here is our final image displayed in Kommune. The exhibition started on Tuesday 7th may and lasted until Thursday 9th may. It was really good to see so many student's work displayed in a huge open space where so many members of the public could see. I was quite proud to see the work they we had done exhibition in this way. As well as the photographs, there were all the films playing from a projector onto a plain wall which looked great.  I posted an image of our final image on my Instagram story to show my followers and promote the exhibition further on there.  Kommune was a great place for the exhibition to be held, there were so many food and drink options and I think everyone had a great night.  Unfortunately however, our video had a voiceover and it was lost within the chatter of the public, I think that the sound could've been better for this, but other than this the video was displayed visually well.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

Image
I created several items of promotional material which advertise our university exhibition where all our work will be displayed. Firstly I created two posters / flyers.  I quite like these which I have created, I think they clearly express where and what the exhibition is, and the colour schemes (particularly the first), first with the theme of my zine and blog. A similar house style is used throughout the posters. I think the fonts used continue this house style from the zine and blog too and I think it visually connects together well. These posters could  be posted on social media, as well as put up in and around Kommune and around the city of Sheffield, to get as much exposure as possible. As well as these I also created some promotional merchandise which could be bought at the exhibition, to further promote. I created two badges and two tote bags. I think particularly the badges reflect the Northern Soul theme the most as these paired with denim jackets was typic...

FINAL GIF

NORTHERN SOUL GIF Above is the Northern Soul GIF taken from footage from our Norther Soul Film. I believe this represents Northern Soul style through the Fred Perry polo shirt and represents dance well too. The protagonist also holds eye contact for part of the GIF, again bringing the audience in closer together. The GIF is set in the underpass in Sheffield, a dark dingy place can represent the hardships which this individual is going through, but embraces in the music and dance to feel free and full of enjoyment; hence her facial expression.

FINAL FILM

NORTHERN SOUL FINAL FILM Above is the link to our final Northern Soul film.  Positives My favourite parts of the video are the effects added in post production, the grain and aspect ratio give the film a bit of edge and make it look slightly different. Also, we incorporated a voiceover which added context and depth to the video, it helps to tell the story of the protagonist and it works well and fades into 'Do I Love You?' by Frank Wilson, a Northern Soul Classic.  The protagonist in the film was Hannah's flatmate Nia, she helped to add diversity into the film to show people from different background coming together to celebrate the freedom which Northern Soul provides.  The dress code used was another strength, the bright yellow t shirt not only fits with the theme of my blog but it represents the Northern Soul culture as it is Fred Perry. This was paired with baggy culottes and comfortable trainers.  Many shots used were tracking shots, which we ideally ...
