LOCATION IDEAS

In my group, we went on a walk around Sheffield to try and establish some location ideas for the shoot of the film, this was prior to the story boards as we needed some inspiration as we were rather lost as to where to go from this point.

We decided to walk up behind the train station up to Park Hill flats, we thought that this area would be a good place to film as we were thinking about a possible derelict area, worn down, to represent the working class, people who dominated the Northern Soul Nights. We took some photos of areas that filming around would work for us, and wouldn't disturb people near by. The graffiti was something I thought would also be good to focus on, again establishing that  working class, carefree and creative community.

As well as this main location, we thought that a walk up to this place in the video was essential, therefore shots of our central protagonist walking through Sheffield Town Centre with shots of building establishing the setting would be ideal.

Another location idea was some other place which reflect the Northern Soul movement, such as second hand shops where some of the typical Northern Soul type clothing would be sold; Fred Perry, Flares, other mod clothing and flowy outfits easy to dance and feel free in. Maybe pubs and clubs as well, emphasising the drink and dance culture which Northern Soul very much embraced.
